Lee M. Lockwood
Professor of Economics, University of Virginia

I am an economist at the University of Virginia working on the policy challenges of advanced AI. Drawing on price theory and public finance, I study how policy can capture AI’s potential benefits while limiting its risks, with particular attention to AI safety. My earlier research focused on social insurance and the economics of aging.
